I miss home

June 16 will mark one year ago that we drove out of our farm in Oregon.  It was so exciting but also bittersweet.  I love a new adventure but I also like same ole boring.  I am truly grateful for all God has done with this move.  My husband has a wonderful job, my son's have both found work with company's that offer a lifelong career.  My family is here.  We have found a nice little church......
So why do I miss home so much?  It was very hard to leave Oregon, but I was under the impression that since it was a God thing, I would love Minnesota.
But still yet, I know God does not promise us happiness, but he does take care of us, and that he has done.  This verse keeps popping into my mind:

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:12-13

I think I am supposed to be learning this, to be content and rely on God's strength.  I am so grateful that we had those years in Oregon, met the people we did and had the experiences we had.  On to the next adventure!  (whatever it is)

  1. Oh my precious friend! I understand this full well. We moved to Florida in 2003 and no exaggeration, it was 2010 when it began to feel like home. And that verse is one God just started speaking to me about in the last few weeks too. But I love your honesty and your amazing attitude. You are thankful yet wrestle with your own personal feelings. I think God welcomes that mold able heart of yours. It's beautiful. And you have reminded me to be thankful too. Love you sweet friend.

  2. Prudence, I am so sorry you miss your home! God will always see your through, and has an amazing plan for your life, even when it is hard to understand!! I have been going through a tough year of trails, and I have to continue to trust in the Lord that his plan is better than mine! He blesses us in so many great ways!! Keep strong in the Lord!!   3. God does have a plan for us...and I am sorry you miss Oregon. I truly believe wonderful things will come into your life because of your move...God knows why...we just have to wait and see what JOY he has in store for us.
