Fresh Juice

Is everyone trying to get healthy these days?  I've been reading alot about that on blogs....

I'm on day 2 of freshly juiced grape, strawberry, apple juice.  I've juiced a few times over the years but I had never tried grapes in the juicer.

What a yummy treat!  I drank a big glass of grape/strawberry/apple juice over ice this morning and was very FULL!

I'm almost out of fruit.....

Vintage Beauty

So Portia just said, Mom, can we go look at your perfumes?  So we went and looked at all the perfumes and opened each rouge compact to look inside.  Why does that give me such a thrill?

Portia thought we should take pictures for the blog....

I LOVE vintage beauty products, vintage makeup, vintage anything.  I collect vintage rouge compacts.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Ponds Cheeks.... isn't this adorable??

Tangee.  I wonder who owned these?  Did she wear those great vintage cotton dresses?  Was she a housewife?  Or did she work at a beauty shop?

I love when I find the advertising still inside in great shape, or the rouge is brand new!

Like this one.

And why were the colors so bright?  Didn't they have any neutral tones back then?  Did these colors look good on everyone?

This one is my favorite, it is brand new and look at that pink advertisement!!  I love it!

My mother-in-law used to work in a department store in the beauty section selling perfume.  For Christmas and birthdays I always got department store perfumes and lotions and gift with purchases.  I loved it!  And she started giving me mini perfumes all the time.  I still have every single one.

Here are some in the vintage cabinet I have in my bathroom, where I keep the vintage compacts.

And these are in my mom's old corner cabinet in my bedroom.  Portia is waiting for me to sit down with her and look at vintage Avon catalogs from the 70's.  I have two of them, they are so fun because I actually remember seeing my mom use some of the products.

Happy Sunday!

My house

I wanted to end the day on a happy note, it is sunny out!!  That means good pictures!

Dear sweet Jessica over at two shades of pink, noticed my green table in a picture and asked to see more pictures of my house.  I tried to get pictures with lots of color.

This is the light over my kitchen sink, it is vintage.

This is where most of the color in my kitchen is, on my shelves.  My kitchen is very cluttered or I would have shown you the whole thing, when it's clean I will.

See the clutter?  This is my bulletin board or all these papers would be piled up on the counter.

Here's the green table, it was my mom's, I painted it and recovered the stools.  My kitchen started out this color green.

This is Sophie and Portia's room.  As you know Portia wants to be a mermaid when she grows up, so I painted waves on her walls.

Portia's collection of mermaid pictures.

I painted the closet doors purple when we first moved in.

This is Lauren's room, she has this great old store sign.

Her tutu's

I love this vintage costume illustration, I bought it on ebay a few years back.

This is my room, I bought this antique mantel at an architechtual salvage place in Aurora, Oregon.  I am tired of the brown paint, I want to repaint but am not sure what to paint.  I do like how dark it is at night though.

While we were in Hawaii, my husbands grandma, who passed away a year ago, had these books.  Hubbies dad was going to give them away.

My vintage tiara.

My favorite picture of Sophie, she had natural curls, and her hair got very long.  I had to shave her head a year ago, when all 3 of my girls got head lice!
Her hair grew back straight :(

I have more pictures but it's family game night!  Gotta go!

Thank you :)

See my new header?  My new bloggy friend, Jessica made it for me!  Wasn't that nice of her?  I have no idea how to do these things, and decisions are hard for me, can you tell?  I've been changing my shabby blog alot these last few weeks!

Jessica's blog, is one of my favorites, I sometimes catch myself thinking on monday night, OH!  tomorrow is two tips tuesday!  I always laugh out loud at her writing....hilarious!  Go check it out here

Thank you Jessica!!

I have to add that I read her fertility story, AMAZING, grab a box of kleenex and read it.  God is so good!  And reading her story just brought to mind things God has done for me over the years and it really touched my heart.  I must be hormonal cuz I am crying now writing this thinking about it....
I am just so thankful God led me to meet her in blog land.

Little Lollibags

The sun is FINALLY out!  So I hopped Sophie over to the kitchen to be my model.  I had to put a clean shirt on her for this, she already had the first shirt of the day dirty....

Sophie is ready for shopping with her Little Lolli in green and pink floral fabric with white ruffles.

Little Lolli's are great for sitting around with friends over coffee.

Share some love....

Sophie's a real ham.

Here's Lyla's little Lolli.

I'm making more, what would you like to see?

OH MY!!!!!  I turned around when I was done posting this and this is what I saw!!  (why do I have stamp pads from 8 years ago???)

I just bought that shirt too, she is outgrowing all of her clothes so fast!  UGH!  Maybe my new Electrolux washer can get it out!!

Little Girl Lollibag

Some friends of ours are having their first baby this month, a little girl named Lyla.  I wanted to make her a little Lollibag, here it is.

I embroidered her name on the front.

I love little pink baby buttons!

I'm thinking I'm going to start selling these little girl Lollibags too.  How much do you think I should sell them for?

A Vintage Pattern

On Easter Sunday, Lauren and I sewed ALL DAY!  And we had old movies on ALL DAY!

I have a vintage pattern for pajamas and Lauren made the pajama top.  She looks right out of a vintage movie!

I was to afraid to try this pattern, but Lauren dove right in.

It had all these frilly lace rows all over it, and she put ruffles instead.

You can see the movie Gidget playing on the TV in the background.  We've watched it three times this weekend.  I'm calling Portia, Gidget, now because she loves it so much.  She wants a swim suit just like Gidget's and pajama's just like Gidget's.

So I made Portia a little girl's outfit from a 1960's pattern.

I've got some Good Earth Tea brewing for some more iced tea.  Here's a couple quotes I found today:

You're never too old to become younger.
Mae West
(1892-1980)

Fortune favors the brave.
Virgil, Aeneid
(70 BC-19 BC)

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?  Were you there when they crucified my Lord?  Oh, sometimes is causes me to tremble, tremble...

I love that hymn, I just love hymns.

You know when you get in a fight with your husband and you are so upset, you can't control your crying and jerking, and you are sure your getting divorced.  And from all that crying your nose is so plugged you cannot get one tiny breath in through your nose.... it is so plugged that you start gagging?

Okay hold that thought.

My hubby took me to see Passion of the Christ in the theaters when it came out.  I had no idea how it would affect me.  The above crying?  Yes that is what I was doing in the theater.  I went through all my kleenex and needed more and my makeup was washed away and my nose was dripping snot everywhere, and I was SOBBING audibly...

I always cry on Easter, thinking of what my Lord has done for me, it is so precious, the thought of my Savior taking the pain, the darkness, the evil, all the sin, and torture just for me, that I cannot comprehend it!

I thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me!  I love you.

Coastal Living-you got me!!

I am finally taking the plunge and subscribing to Coastal Living.  I had to have the current issue because it said: Best Seaside Cottage Rentals.  So I had to see those!

Then I dug up one of my favorite issues I've saved from Jan-Feb 2009 and saw this cottage again!  Photo is from here

They had a story on this cute little pink cottage, owned by Jane Coslick on Tybee Island.  Now I have never in my life desired to go to Georgia.  But I'm longing to go live in this cottage!

And to top it off I still have this wonderful issue with the pink umbrella....

So off I go to subscribe to Coastal Living!
